e-Ticket Dominican Republic: the travel authorization system joining those already existing in the Caribbean region
In September 2021, the Dominican Republic followed what a vast number of the Caribbean states have already done. It implemented an online travel authorization system called Dominican Republic e-Ticket which online application form can be found at www.dominicanrepubliceticket.us.
Just like the other online travel permits, the DR e-Ticket, as it is also known, allows visa-free entry to the citizens of numerous nations. There is a slight difference though making the DR e-Ticket different from the other similar documents. It combines 3 documents in one:
Entry form | Exit form | Customs Declaration
The Dominican Republic e-Ticket is also mandatory for everybody entering and exiting the country including for the local citizens.
By combining the three documents in one, the Travel Authorization System behind this relatively new e-Ticket, is making it easier and mandatory for those visiting the island to provide the needed information. It also makes possible for the local authorities to better keep track of the visiting flow and hence to provide better security for the citizens and guests of the Dominican Republic.
What information does the Dominican Republic e-Ticket application ask for?
The DR e-Ticket is more detailed and longue than a number of other online travel authorization documents. Combining three important documents is one, the Dominican Republic e-Ticket asks for:
Personal information – names (according to the passport); birth date; home address; e-mail and phone number; civil status and occupation; passport and passport issuing country.
Arrival information – dates and details of all the flight one takes to get to the Dominican Republic, including the stop overs if any; accommodation details incl. names and addresses during the stay on the island.
Departure Information – leaving date, details of all the flight back;
Customs declaration – although most online travel permits contain eligibility questions, they are usually linked to potential health threats to the public, possible criminal background, etc. The Dominican Republic e-Ticket customs declaration asks detailed information on the imported goods and their ownership.
With all the asked information, completing the DR e-Ticket would take around 10 minutes. It is important, when completing the document, to have handy your passport, the flight and accommodation details for all the stay in the country, and a bank card. The document is valid for the whole stay on the Island.
Other online travel permits for the Caribbean
As mentioned above, the establishment of the Dominican Republic e-Ticket follows the implementation of other similar documents that make the tourist flow to this region easier and, at the same time, more secure.
Bonaire Tax for the ex-Dutch island of Bonaire
Bonaire Tax is an easy and quick to complete online travel form asking only the essential questions like personal information, e-mail, and flight and accommodation details. The form allows the applicant to add up to 10 other travel members to the same document making it unnecessary to complete and print out a separate document for each of them.
Allowed period of stay with Bonaire Tax – 90 consecutive days.
Anguilla and Grenada e-Visas
Unlike the other online travel permit which substitute the regular visas with different online travel permits, both Anguilla and Grenada e-Visas are applicable for those who cannot travel visa-free. The application forms are detailed documents requiring information on the applicant’s address; passport; purpose of stay; employment history; point of contact to the respective country; period of stay.
Visitax for the state of Quintana Roo of Mexico
Maybe the easiest to complete of all, this application form asks for only names and contact details. The reason for this – Visitax is not a travel permit but tourism tax applicable to every foreign visitor only to the State of the Quintana Roo. Visitax allows up to 10 visitors under the same document.
Allowed period of stay with Mexico’s Visitax – up from 24H, 180 consecutive days.
Saint Kitts and Nevis e-Visa
The online travel permit application asks for personal details (names, addresses, marital status, employment detais, email and phone number); passport number and dates; detailed information on the point of contact (accommodation) in Saint Kitts and Nevis as well as the purpose of travel (including number of entries during the same stay to the island).
Allowed period of stay with Saint Kitts and Nevis e-Visa – 30 days/single entry.
Antigua and Barbuda e-Visa
This online application form allows the applicant to choose the type of Visa (Visitor, Business, Work, Education, etc) making it more complicated and longer than those described above. Apart from the usual information, the document asks information about previously issued Antigua and Barbuda visas. However, the main difference is the uploading of a personal photo, the passport and between 5 and 10 more different documents related to the visit which can be invitation letter, accommodation, and birth certificate, letter from educational institution, etc). If you have handy all the needed information, it shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to complete and pay for it.
Allowed period of stay with Antigua and Barbuda e-Visa – 90 days/single entry.
Saint Lucia Online Immigration Form
One of the most recently established online travel permits is the Saint Lucia Online Immigration Form. Valid as of March 2023, this document is only for those visitors entering the island by air.
Just like the Dominican Republic e-Ticket, the St. Lucia Online Immigration Form combines the arrival and departure information with a health affidavit, and eligibility questions on the items imported to the country.
Unlike the application forms above, this one should be completed and sublimed no more than three days prior travelling to St. Lucia. The application form itself is very detailed. You will be asked to provide detailed information on the ways of travel to St. Lucia, the purpose of the visit, the accommodation details. You will also have to upload an image of your passport.
Allowed period of stay with Saint Lucia Online Immigration Form – 365 days.
The Dominican Republic e-Ticket is one of many online travel permits allowing visa-free entry to the Caribbean state. User friendly, it helps the authorities collect crucial for the public safety information while easing the process of completing the documents.
